Progress at the Picassent Pilot: Advancing Solar Energy and Agrivoltaics in Valencia

The Picassent pilot site in Valencia is making significant strides with the installation of a photovoltaic solar plant. This site is located in the municipality of Picassent, within the L’Horta Sud administrative region, just 17 km from the city of Valencia and part of the greater Valencian metropolitan area.

Currently, the mechanical installations, including the structure and solar panels, are fully completed. The next phase involves starting the low-voltage electrical installation in mid-February, followed by the high-voltage installation at the end of the month. With this timeline, the solar park is expected to be fully constructed by mid-March.

These new facilities play a crucial role within the framework of the project. Their primary objectives are to monitor agronomic variables of the crops to be implemented and to track the energy performance of the photovoltaic solar park.

Once the solar installation is completed, the next steps will be the implementation of crops in April and May. This phase will provide valuable insights into the synergy between solar energy production and agricultural growth, contributing to the project’s innovative approach to sustainable land use and energy efficiency.
