The ECOLOOP project will take part in ENLIT Europe 2025, one of Europe’s leading energy transition events, taking place in Bilbao from 18 to 20 November 2025. Visitors can find ECOLOOP in the EU Project Zone – Stand 5.F30-S02, where the project will present its innovative approach to combining renewable energy technologies with smart farming solutions for sustainable rural development.
ECOLOOP will also participate in the session on “AI in the Energy Transition” on Day 19 (10:00–11:30), chaired by ETIP SNET and featuring the Opentunity project.
This session will explore how artificial intelligence supports the integration of renewable energy systems, improves grid management, and enables smarter and greener operations.
From Data to Decisions: Smart Farming with Renewable Energy
At ENLIT Europe 2025, visitors will discover how ECOLOOP moves from Data to Decisions, applying smart farming tools powered by renewable energy to optimise agricultural and energy management in rural areas.
The project’s Decision Support Tool (DST), led by ETRA, plays a central role in this vision. It provides real-time insights into irrigation, fertilisation, and soil conditions, as well as energy flows from biogas, photovoltaic, geothermal, and agrivoltaic systems.By connecting agricultural productivity with renewable energy efficiency, the DST enables farmers and land managers to make data-driven decisions that reduce environmental impact and improve sustainability.
Empowering Rural Communities for a Green Transition
ECOLOOP promotes a holistic model where energy, biodiversity, and agriculture work together. By integrating bio-based practices and clean energy technologies, the project empowers farmers and foresters to become active prosumers—producing their own renewable energy while enhancing soil health, biodiversity, and carbon sequestration.
This innovative approach helps to:
- Strengthen rural economies through energy independence.
- Improve environmental performance in agricultural systems.
- Accelerate the adoption of clean technologies in farming and forestry.
