Celebrating One Year of ECOLOOP: A Year of Achievements and Progress

As the ECOLOOP project marks its first anniversary, it is an opportune moment to reflect on the significant achievements made possible through the collaborative efforts of 14 partners from four different countries.

Over the past year, the consortium has successfully defined and consolidated various scenarios and use cases of the project, establishing technical requirements and preliminary key performance indicators (KPIs). This foundational work has set the stage for the project’s first structuring phase, positioning the team to effectively achieve its primary goals.

In Spain, the pilot project is making strides in estimating the production of digestate and biofertilizer while securing the necessary permits for the construction of a biogas plant in the municipality of Picassent. This initiative represents a crucial step toward advancing sustainable practices in waste management and energy production.

Simultaneously, valuable data continues to be gathered from various pilot projects. This information is essential for accurately modeling these projects and further developing the Support Decision Tool for farmers and foresters, enhancing their ability to make informed decisions based on reliable data.

The consortium is also thrilled to announce the addition of a new partner: FOREKO. Joining as an affiliated entity of partner FIBENOL in Estonia, FOREKO will collaborate to develop and demonstrate the Carbon Sequestration Tool. This innovative tool will empower farmers and foresters to assess the CO2 sequestration potential of their farmland, promoting sustainable land management practices.
