Slovenian Students Visit ECOLOOP Pilot Site to Learn About Sustainable Energy in Agriculture

ECOLOOP is not only focused on bringing clean energy solutions to rural producers—it’s also committed to educating the next generation about the role of renewable energy in agriculture.

As part of this effort, project partner KIS (Agricultural Institute of Slovenia) hosted a student visit on March 26, welcoming students and teachers from School Centre Šentjur, specifically from the Agricultural Mechanic and Agricultural Technician programmes.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce the students to the work of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Energy at KIS, and to provide a hands-on look at sustainable energy practices. The group toured the micro biogas plant at the Jablje Infrastructure Centre, where they learned about:

  • Biogas production technology
  • Anaerobic digestion processes
  • Types of biomass input used
  • Energy output and applications

The visit also included an introduction to the ECOLOOP project as a real-world example of how innovative renewable energy solutions are being implemented in the agricultural sector.

By combining technical insights with practical demonstrations, the visit aimed to inspire students and strengthen their understanding of how clean energy can support more sustainable and resilient farming practices.
