ECOLOOP Holds Its 2nd Review Meeting: Assessing Progress and Preparing for the Next Phase

Between 3-4 June 2026, the ECOLOOP consortium gathered in Valencia, Spain, for the project’s 2nd Review Meeting, a key milestone in every Horizon Europe project. Over two days, project partners, pilot site representatives, and the Project Officer from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) reviewed the achievements, challenges, and next steps after 30 months of implementation.

Review Meetings are an essential part of Horizon Europe projects. They provide an opportunity for the European Commission and CINEA to assess progress, ensure that project objectives are being met, and offer valuable feedback to maximise the project’s impact. These meetings also foster collaboration among partners and help align future activities with the project’s strategic goals.

The first day focused on the technical and strategic progress achieved across ECOLOOP’s work packages. The consortium presented advances in project management and coordination, communication, dissemination and exploitation activities, renewable energy production solutions for the agriculture and forestry sectors, renewable-based agricultural protocols and decision-support tools for farmers and foresters, socio-economic support mechanisms for prosumer engagement, and the deployment and demonstration activities being implemented across the project’s pilot sites.

The review provided an opportunity for in-depth discussions with the Project Officer, who offered feedback and recommendations to support the successful completion of the project and maximise its long-term impact.

On the second day, participants visited two of ECOLOOP’s demonstration sites in the Valencia region. The consortium explored a biogas plant in Silla and a geothermal energy system and agri-PV installed in Picassent, gaining first-hand insight into how renewable energy solutions are being deployed and tested within real agricultural environments.

The meeting highlighted the strong progress achieved by the consortium during the first 30 months of the project and reinforced the shared commitment to supporting farmers and foresters in the transition towards renewable energy and sustainable rural development.
