With the launch of the new ECOLOOP CO₂ Sequestration Tool, forest owners, farmers and land managers now have free access to a digital platform that helps identify the most suitable tree species for different soil conditions, supporting more informed decisions for both climate action and sustainable land management.
Developed within the ECOLOOP project, the tool combines scientific growth models with regional data from the project’s pilot sites in Spain, Estonia, Slovenia and Bulgaria, providing tailored recommendations that reflect local conditions. In addition to estimating carbon sequestration potential, it also offers valuable insights into the long-term management and economic opportunities associated with different forestry scenarios.
Open, free to use and accessible to all, the Carbon Calculator represents another step towards helping rural communities make data-driven decisions that contribute to climate neutrality and more resilient landscapes.
